Different Types of Boilers to Install for Your Home

Are you looking to install a new boiler? There are a range of different boiler types  available to you, so it is important you do your research on each type before making any decisions. To get you started, we have created a handy guide, explaining the pros and cons of each main type of boiler.

Conventional boilers

Conventional boilers are well suited to older homes with older radiator systems, as the pressure from a conventional boiler will not be too powerful. They can very easily meet a high demand for hot water, making them a great choice for larger homes and big families.

However, they require two water tanks and a storage cylinder, so you will need to have a relatively large amount of free space. As well as this, your storage cylinder needs to be well insulated, to stop heat from escaping.

System boilers

System boilers are very similar to conventional boilers, as they can also meet a high demand for hot water, although they do not require as much free space. You must still have a water cylinder and one water tank, but these can be fitted easily into most homes.

The storage cylinder has the same downsides as with a conventional boiler.

Combination boilers

Combi boilers are a modern type of boiler and they require nothing except the boiler itself. This makes them ideal for smaller homes, as you do not need free space for any other components. They are also highly efficient, as they operate directly from your mains water; heating water as and when you need it.

While they are efficient, they are not ideal for homes with a high demand for hot water at any one ti,e, as they will struggle to meet the demand. They also require you to have good mains pressure, or else your baths and showers will be weak.
